Craving has a central role in substance dependence being included in both ICD11 and DSM V diagnostic criteria and is thought to be a major contributor to relapse. Yet craving remains poorly defined, the assessment of craving in research varies substantially and formal assessment in the clinical setting is rare. Please join Professor Marc Auriacombe, Professor of Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine, University of Bordeaux as he considers the clinical relevance of the latest research on person and substance related predictors of craving in substance use, the importance of management of craving, and developments in treatment strategies. Dr Martyn Lloyd-Jones will Chair the meeting and invite audience participation.
